The problem
A sloping lot and a soft upper soil layer meant the usual isolated footings would settle unevenly and crack the frame.
What I did
Designed the reinforced concrete frame to the National Structural Code of the Philippines
Specified a tied pile foundation to carry loads past the soft layer to firmer strata
Coordinated the structural plans with the architect and delivered signed and sealed drawings for permit
Outcome
The plans cleared building permit review on first submission and the structure was built without foundation issues.
